Material & Thread Choices
When selecting a hex reducing nipple for local projects, keep the following material and system standards in mind:
- Malleable Iron (Galvanized): Best suited for robust structural plumbing and standard water lines.
- Brass: Offers premium corrosion resistance, commonly used for air compressor lines, potable water, and high-pressure gas setups.
- Thread Type (BSP vs NPT): Plumbing infrastructure in Dubai heavily utilizes British Standard Pipe (BSP) threads for European/local standards, whereas oil, gas, or American equipment configurations usually require National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads.
- Make sure to verify your system’s existing threads, as these types are not interchangeable.
These fittings are designed with a hexagonal center section, making it easy to tighten or install securely using standard wrenches.
They serve to connect two female-threaded plumbing elements or pipes of differing diameters
